Individualized College Guidance

Kirsten Keller thoughtfully guides students in choosing and applying to colleges that align with their goals.

Parents of high school students need answers to these common college questions:
  • Which high school courses are best for university admissions?
  • How many years of language or math are required for college entrance?
  • SAT, ACT or test optional admissions? Resources?
  • How is AP, IB or Running Start viewed in college admissions?

Keller College Planning can help. When is the right time to call?
Mid-sophomore year is the perfect time for students to seek individualized college counseling. Guided conversations focus on well-chosen course selection, learning about testing requirements, extracurricular activities and community service involvement, and career exploration activities.

Whether you are a sophomore making high school course choices and considering extracurricular activities to prepare for college, or a junior needing help generating a list of colleges and preparing for application, Keller College Planning can help.

Juniors are able to start monthly student meetings and curriculum lessons with Kirsten in the fall. Students prepare to apply to college by building college lists, visiting campuses, studying for and taking the SAT/ACT, and writing resumes and personal statement essays.

Students examine their individual college preferences and the different attributes of colleges. Using assessment tools, conversation, and expert guidance, students find colleges that are a match academically, and socially, and are affordable. Students make plans to visit universities to ask questions and get to know student culture on campus. Families are provided with a data-rich college list that is comprised of a range of schools that are best-fit college options, and that students would be happy to attend.

Keller College Planning guides the creation of an academic/activity resume, coaches students on how to best request letters of recommendation, assists students in brainstorming essay topics for the personal statement essay and supplement essays, and provides essay feedback and application review. Students are also provided with a Keller College Planning custom college dashboard that is accessible by computer or mobile phone, which facilitates communication and organization of college application information and deadlines.

Seniors, preparation is done. It's time to apply!
Students are encouraged to open their online applications, as early as August 1st, and submit all of their applications by November 15th, when possible. This allows seniors an edge on priority scholarships, early acceptance, and the best housing choices, not to mention some extra time to study for finals and to relax during the holidays with family and friends. Applying early also comes with the added benefit of peace of mind, with early acceptance letters arriving when some friends are just getting started.
